KBPublisher allows you to upload files in bulk. This is useful when you have a lot of files to add.
- First, upload the files to the server via FTP or whatever method you normally use
- Click on the Files menu
- Choose the Bulk Actions tab
Once you are on the bulk action screen you must:
- Type the address of the directory from which you wish to upload files. This address is usually the path from the root directory of your server. e.g. /pathname/directory/.
- Click Get Files
- This brings up a list of all files in the directory.
Initially, all files are selected. Deselect (uncheck) the files you do not wish to add.
- Nominate the category you want the files to be stored in
- If you want the files to be displayed under other headings as well, click on each category under Mirror in Categories that you want them displayed in. You can select more than one mirror category. Hold the <Ctrl> key down while you select each mirror category.
The following items are optional:
- To help users identify what is in the files, include a Title and a Description. The title and description will be the same for each file uploaded
- To force users to log on to read an article, mark it as Private
- Use the public view, but unpublished and pending articles can only be seen when you are in the admin area.');">Status field to make the file available to download
- Click Add Files.
Tips:
- The Back button clears the screen. For example, if you find you have uploaded the wrong directory, click on Back to restart.
- Once you have added a file this way it is stored as a record in the database. This record includes the path name, so once a record is loaded into KBPublisher you should not move it from the directory it is stored in, or delete it. If you do this, the link to the file becomes invalid.
